Assistant Restaurant Manager

We are looking for an experienced assistant manager with front of house and hospitality experience to join our café team at a family-owned garden centre.

Brief description of duties

  • Ensures the smooth running of The Restaurant, where all aspects of the food & beverage service and guest experience are delivered to the highest levels which is set out by the Head of Hospitality and Catering
  • Works proactively to improve guest satisfaction and comfort, delivering a positive and timely response to guest enquiries
  • Develops and implements plans where the garden centre initiatives & garden centre targets are achieved for the restaurant.
  • Leads and manages The FOH team, fostering a culture of growth, development and performance within the department
  • Responsible for ensuring that costs and inventory are controlled and that productivity and performance levels are attained
  • Builds and maintains effective working relationships
  • Establishes and delivers effective programmes that advance service standards, profitability and cost control
  • Ensures adherence and compliance to all legislation where due diligence requirements and best practice activities are planned, delivered and documented for internal and external audit, performing follow-up as required

Person specification

  • Exceptional customer service skills
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in hospitality or front of house environment
  • Able to work flexibly to meet the needs of the business
  • Works well as part of a team

Hours
40 Hours a Week. Including weekends. Exact shifts to be agreed.

Rates of Pay
Up to £28,000 per annum

Waiting Staff

We are looking for a member of staff to join our café team.

Duties include:

  • Taking customer orders and serving meals with a polite, friendly and helpful attitude
  • Preparing drinks (including hot drinks) and cake orders
  • Clearing and cleaning duties
  • Working as part of a team to ensure the service is delivered to a high standard
  • Supporting at ad-hoc events as and when required

Requirements

  • Great customer service & communication skills
  • Able to work in a fast paced hospitality environment
  • Barista experience would be advantageous but not essential

Hours

Full time (30 – 40 hours a week)
Including weekends and maybe some evenings (events)

Plant Area Assistant

We are looking for someone who can combine an impressive knowledge of plants and gardening with excellent customer service skills. You will mostly be working outside – moving and displaying plants, plant care & maintenance and of course delivering great customer service.

Duties include:

  • Undertaking daily watering, maintenance and stocking up of the indoor and bedding plant areas
  • Answering customer queries, and be knowledgeable about looking after plants
  • Basic plant merchandising and assist in creating commercial displays, which inform and inspire customers and encourage linked sales
  • When needed you will assist in other areas of the business, especially other plant area departments

Requirements

  • Understanding of plants and horticulture
  • Able to work in a fast paced retail environment
  • Great customer service & communication skills

Hours
Full Time: 40 hours a week including weekends – exact hours & days to be discussed
